Petrale Sole Fishing Guide
Petrale sole are the most prized flatfish on the West Coast, with delicate, sweet white flesh that holds up to all cooking methods and has earned it a devoted following in Pacific restaurants. They inhabit sandy and muddy bottoms off California and Oregon and are a common catch on party boats targeting deeper grounds. Habitat
Sandy and muddy bottoms from 60 to 1,500 feet, predominantly on the outer continental shelf from Alaska to Baja California. Shallower in winter, deeper in summer.
Diet
Small fish, shrimp, squid, and crustaceans on sandy flats.
